The work is exquisite. I had a tear in my pants, not on the seam. Now you cannot even tell where the tear was, good as new!

This is the second time I've used Knitwear Doctor, and again the workmanship is fantastic. In this case, my camel's hair coat was riddled with numerous moth holes, which made it unwearable. But thanks to Galia's expertise, it has been restored to pristine condition. It was so worth the wait!

Unbelievable what Galia and her team are capable of doing to knitwear. She's honest and fair and does remarkable work. I've been bringing my things to her for years and she has never failed in any respect. Thank you Galia for everything! Stella

Galia and Boris accepted a very badly torn, vintage sweater that our rescue Husky recently savaged. The dog had ripped a hamburger-sized hole out of the center of the back, and created numerous other holes, one the size of a golf ball. The 1980s Hammacher Schlemmer sweater, hand knit abroad, is irreplaceable and has sentimental value (belonged to my late mother). It has a bold, intricate, folk art pattern throughout. Dahlia was able to resurrect this beautiful garment with such skill and psychic genius that one would never guess it had been damaged. Her talent is phenomenal. We are now her grateful customers, for life.

If only more people knew about this company, there'd be one in every city! When our expensive chenille sofa cushion covers started to unravel at stress points I was devastated thinking of the cost to reupholster the whole sofa.  The fabric had a broad weave and that's what made me think of the idea of having the fabric rewoven with the extra fabric we had.  Knitwear Doctor did such an amazing job and far exceeded even my highest hopes!  In fact, it made me think of all the expensive things I'd thrown out because

Fixed holes in 2 jacket arms in a couple weeks. Amazing work that most other places wouldn't even try! Highly recommended! I will continue to be a customer! She is the Doctor!

Galia is a  true "doctor" she repaired my pair of pants which I thought were ruined!.  Like she stated, I got my pants 2 weeks later.I couldn't see the damage the moth had  created in the past. I had several tiny holes and she repaired every single darn hole. I drove 25 miles to get to her and it was worth every single mile. Thank you!998

Just dropped some items off with Galia on Saturday. She's a community treasure and probably a national treasure because it's not easy to find people who do what she does and certainly not as well as she does it. I've gone to her maybe once or twice a year for many years to repair items and made a few purchases when I happened to have time to look. As a knit lover, I highly recommend her and pray her good health and ability to continue her craft for many years to come.

I found this service through Yelp. I needed a designer sweater repaired that had been destroyed by moths. After sending photos, I VERY quickly got a quote and went to their website for instructions on mailing it in because I live across the country. Even when I asked questions, the online responses were super fast. Coincidentally I was going to be in the area in the coming weeks, so I dropped the sweater off in person. The shop was a treasure trove of random designer items, and a stock room full of St John. There's also a buttons store inside, and I was able to buy a selection of buttons to upgrade my existing clothes. The owner is a lovely, very helpful woman and we bonded well. It took a while to get my piece back because I understand it's a one-woman operation, but when I checked on my item I was reassured it was safe and would be completed soon. I got my sweater back via mail and it was as good as new! I don't know how she works magic like this, but my sweater looked amazing. Now to lose a few pounds so I can fit it as good as it looks! I recommend this business if you want to bring damaged knitwear back to life.

They fixed two of my sweaters that I thought I would have to throw out due to moth holes - they look good as new! So happy I found them.

Wonderful workmanship and the owners are beautiful people. Such a niche market and they treat you like family. They repaired my vintage alpaca sweater that had a run and a couple of holes and now it looks like new again. I highly recommend the Knitwear Doctor for all your sweater knitting repair needs.

I discovered Knitwear Doctor years ago when I had an expensive red cashmere sweater blazer that had been eaten by moths. Galia, the "Doctor", repaired the holes and I swear you cannot tell where the holes were.  It was a miracle!  Since that time, I have used Galia to repair my designer sweaters, jackets, dresses;  her work is always first class and the finest artistry. I now live in Mesa, Arizona and I still send articles for repair to her! And I still have and wear that red cashmere sweater!

My cat got a hold of a sweater that I really loved, and I was heartbroken to discover that he ripped several holes in it. I desperately started searching online and found the Knitwear Doctor. I feared that the sweater was beyond repair, but thought I would give Galia a try based on her wonderful reviews. I brought my sweater in, and was relieved to hear that Galia was confident she could repair the holes and make it look great again. The price was extremely reasonable for the work, and I looked forward to seeing the finished product. One week later I came to pick up and sweater, and true to her word it looked amazing! I was so thrilled! Galia is truly a miracle worker - I will bring any and all knit items to her in the future, and refer everyone I know to her wonderful services. I cannot speak highly enough of my experience. Definitely bring your items here!

This resource is invaluable to anyone who loves to wear knits.  Repairs and alterations are done to perfection.  She also sells St John garments and other pieces.  This shop has a bonus, Buttonham Palace.  If you knit, sew, or just need some really lovely buttons this is where to go.  There is a room filled with a terrific array, unlike any other resource in Orange County.  My collection of very lightweight knit tops would have lots of tiny holes if not for my regular visits to Knitwear Doctor.  Knitwear Magician might be a better name but hey, they didn't consult me on that.

Saved my relationship! I accidentally ripped my girlfriend's favorite knit bolero... Looked around at tailors in the area but none were able to fix it. Luckily we found Galia and she confidently replied that she do it! We sent it in and got it repaired for a very reasonable price. It did take a while (about a month), but it was definitely worth the wait when I saw how good the repair was! When all hope is lost, go to Galia the Knitwear DOCTOR!

I'm super happy with my Knitwear Doctor experience! I sent a sweater I had purchased final sale that I didn't realize had a high/low hemline to see if the back could be shortened to match the front. The sweater was a merino/cashmere blend and had an intricate cable knit pattern, but this was no problem at all. They suggested they also reknit the hemline on the front to match the back because "it would look more perfect." I hadn't even thought of this, but now the hemlines completely match and nobody would ever know the sweater was altered! Full disclosure, I sent my sweater at the end of September and didn't get it back until the end of June. I didn't mind this because the work is so niche/hard to find, I had read reviews about potential wait times, and I just assume they're busy because everybody wants to go to the best! Pricing was also super reasonable for the quality of work. If you're fine with waiting for a beautiful end result, I couldn't recommend Knitwear Doctor highly enough!

OMG, I just received my Armani suit pants back from the Knitwear Doctor, and I can't praise the workmanship enough. I contacted Galia back in May after searching reviews on the Internet and Yelp for her help, and I'm glad I did. I agreed to the service requested via email and then direct contact over the phone. It was very easy to communicate with as well. I sent my pants 2-day FedEx because the sooner I could get them to her, the sooner I could possibly get them back. I needed the work completed by June 27th because I was leaving on a function shortly there after, which was taking me out of the country for a couple of weeks. To my surprise, I had a FedEx package waiting for me when I got home almost 3 weeks before I expected them back. The value to me was a thousand fold having back this early. I can't express enough how professional, knowledgeable, and polite everyone was, and I'll definitely be doing business with them again should have another unfortunate incident that requires with type of brilliant workmanship. BTW, I couldn't even tell you where the repair was if I hadn't taken pictures, so the value was priceless, and I highly recommend the Doc!

The proprietor does extraordinary work with knitwear; I am so glad to have found this place. She restored two cashmere sweaters with holes to like-new condition. She is also professional and honest, and will tell you if some holes aren't necessarily worth fixing due to their size or material. It's clearly a busy and labor intensive service but it's worth it! I am beyond grateful for her expertise.

Very pleasant and efficient lady who runs this business, they did an outstanding job on three sweaters and I felt that their prices were more than fair. Job I was done when promised and my sweaters look good as new. Interestingly, they also have a large room in the back full of vintage and gently worn designer clothing for both men and women. (A great deal of Saint John knits). Worth exploring!

I found Knit Doctor about 2 years ago after I had to find a way to patch moth holes on one of my Valentino suites.  The Valentino store in Beverly Hills told me to contact the Costa Mesa store because they had someone that could repair it. Then, the Valentino Store said they actually send those type of repairs to the Knit Doctor.  They told me to ask for Galia and said she was very honest and that's who they would use.  She was up front on the times when the repair would show, not show, and even recommended when it wasn't worth fixing.   Since then, she has repaired moth holes in multiple Valentino suites (each suite was between $1500-$2000), a $1500 Canali jacket, and other items that were Versace or Saks 5th.   So far, she always met expectations - and in the cases of two of my Valentino suites and Canali jacket - we cannot find were the areas that needed repair (some were moth holes, others were just wear down of the fabric).  She has saved me so much money. Because I frequently am out of LA for work, she accepts clothing and returns them via mail.  She and her team are great at what they do and are great people.  She has always gone above and beyond for me and I'm glad that there someone who can save my expensive clothes when necessary.

After 30 years they moved next door and the place is gorgeous! They're moving up right along with the area around them.

Here's a refined versionI had my Ralph Lauren Crest turtleneck sweater converted to a crewneck, and I couldn't be happier with the results. The craftsmanship is incredible--the sweater looks as if it was originally designed as a crewneck. Truly amazing work and worth every penny. Communication throughout the process was excellent, and the turnaround time was about four weeks. Highly recommend!"

Galia is the ultimate artiste! She was able to beautifully alter the bespoke Mongolian cashmere sweater my 81 year old sister crafted for me as her first ever knitwear project! There were a couple significant goofs, but Galia expertly and precisely corrected the errors while maintaining the integrity of the knit in the round piece - she shortened the sleeves by 11" each, extended the turtleneck and bottom border, and fixed any other issues. Thank you!!!

Berta H.

Amazing, flawless work! I had a cashmere sweater shortened, with the piece removed finished into a scarf - 2 items out of 1. The work was exceptional - I couldn't be happier. This is my second experience with Knitwear Doctor and I will certainly be a return customer once again!

I was gifted a cashmere sweater a couple years ago, and it was large on me at the time - unfortunately, the place it was from didn't have the proper size to exchange. I've since lost more weight and literally could swim in the sweater. The team at Knitwear Doctor did a fantastic job re-sizing it for me. Aside from it now fitting, there is no sign at all that they changed anything - no loose threads or mismatched stitches or anything. I couldn't be happier with their work.

This place works miracles. I've been coming here for years, whenever a beloved sweater meets a moth or knit item needs repairs or altering.  I can't tell you how she does it but she does.  Also appreciated is her honesty in telling you which items will turn out nicely and which won't, or not worth it.  Thank you Knitwear Doctor for your many years of keeping things nice and wearable.

Galia works magic here. She helped me reweave a hole in one of my custom pants. She did an amazing job and if you knew where the original hole was you would never be able to find it after her work. Life saver. Definitely recommended.
